What Exactly is the Microneedling Treatment?

Having your skin poked over and over again by tiny little needles may sound a little intimidating, but it’s completely safe. The needles create small punctures on the top layer of the skin, which cause the body to create new collagen and elastin. You’re basically tricking your skin into thinking that you’ve been injured, causing it to send more collagen to the affected parts.

How Does the Microneedling Procedure Work?

First, your skin will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream will be applied to the area to be treated. It’ll take about 10 to 20 minutes for the numbing cream to kick in. Then your dermatologist will apply a serum to promote skin repair and healing.

Now, it’s time for the needles. A microneedling pen will go up and down your face (or the area you are having the procedure done) to “needle in” the serum. When the procedure is finished, another layer of serum is applied. And that’s it!
